No running

You would think that I would be happy being on the DL - no running allowed. I have realized that I only enjoy not running if it's on my own terms. I am learning new things about myself all the time.

So, what have I been doing since the Santa Barbara half? Well, here's the quick rundown:
Sat, Nov 11: The team ran 10 miles. I walked 6 with Alice and Marisela. It was going quite well - even with the little "off trail" adventure balancing on rocks to cross a stream. But wouldn't you know that I would roll my ankle on the flat portion of the trail, about 50 metres before we finished.
Sun, Nov 12: I bought a brace for my ankle. Wearing it to work was fine. Using it while attempting to get in some miles on the elliptical was a big mistake. I thought my whole foot was going to fall off.
Tues, Nov 14: Track training at Arcadia High School. I walked for the first 20 mins or so, then got permission to do some running. During my 8th lap, I felt a sharp pain in my ankle. That put an end to my evening.
Sat, Nov 18: The team ran 18 miles. I stayed in bed.
Sun, Nov 19: After eating my face off at Nate & Christine's Thanksgiving potluck the night before, I thought it would be best if I put in some time on the elliptical - without the brace.

Which brings us to today. I went to track again tonight, walked some, ran some, gossiped a bit with Gina. I did a number of laps running around the football green - altogether, I'd say about 3 miles tonight. I am hoping that by Saturday, I will be ok to run 10 miles with the team. I am feeling woefully behind.
